Crime Prevention (Re)Certification

Certification Requirements as a Crime Prevention Specialist

The following requirements must be met  to be certified as a Crime Prevention Specialist by the MN Crime Prevention Association (MCPA) / MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).
The candidate for certification:
  • Must be an active member of the MCPA
  • Must complete the MCPA / BCA Crime Prevention Practitioner course
  • Must successfully complete and pass the certification exam
  • Must renew certification on an annual basis by obtaining eight (8) POST or CEU’s

Recertification Requirements as a Crime Prevention Specialist

The following requirements must be met  to be re-certified as a Crime Prevention Specialist by the MN Crime Prevention Association (MCPA) / MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

The candidate for recertification:

  • Must be an active member of the MCPA
  • Must obtain eight (8) POST credits or CEU’s by either
  • Attending the annual MCPA conference
  • By providing the MCPA Board of Directors with proof of completion of at least eight (8) hours of Crime Prevention related courses, meetings or trainings.

All proof of completion of Crime Prevention courses (outside MCPA annual conference), meetings or trainings  must be submitted to the MCPA Board of Directors by December 31.

Certification is good from January 1st to December 31st of each year.
