What We Do
WHAT DOES MCPA DO?
MCPA strives to fulfill its mission in all we do. MCPA cannot function effectively without the participation of our members. All members are encouraged to participate in MCPA sub-committees and events. Please contact MCPA to volunteer to be on a committee or assist with some of our many other events.
The MCPA holds an annual conference each October. The 2017 Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn and Suites in St. Cloud, MN on October 16-17. To learn more or register for the conference, visit our Annual Conference Page.
CRIME PREVENTION CERTIFICATION
Partnering with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), the MCPA offers the opportunity for member to become certified crime prevention practitioners. To be eligible for certification, MCPA members must attend a 32-hour crime prevention course offered by the BCA, then pass a written crime prevention certification exam. Once certified, crime prevention practitioners must earn 8 hours of approved continuing education each year to maintain certification. Learn More about Crime Prevention Certification or view our Training and Events calendar for upcoming training sessions.
CRIME FREE MULTI-HOUSING
The Minnesota Crime Prevention Association’s CFMH Committee is comprised of MCPA members and was formed as an avenue for agencies to come together to learn, discuss issues and ideas, and share what they are doing in their respective cities. To learn more about the committee and upcoming training sessions, visit the CFMH page or our Traning and Events calendar.
NIGHT TO UNITE/NATIONAL NIGHT OUT COMMITTEE
National Night Out (NNO) is an annual nationwide event held the first Tuesday in August to encourage neighbors to lock up, turn their lights on, get to know each other, and give crime a going away party. Night to Unite (NTU) is Minnesota’s version of this event, which is held the same night, but is sponsored by MCPA. Learn More about Night To Unite / National Night Out.
ANNUAL LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORER COMPETITION
The MCPA sponsors a crime prevention scenario at this annual event that benefits hundreds of Minnesota youth interested in law enforcement careers. The event is judged by members of the MCPA Board of Directors, as well as general MCPA members who are interested in assisting at this event.
