MCPA Award Opportunities

Is there someone you know, either professionally or in your community, who goes the extra mile in crime prevention?  All too often work goes unrecognized or is taken for granted.  Now is YOUR chance to recommend that individual or group’s special effort for an award.

Six separate awards are available to those that support their communities and their organizations through Crime Prevention efforts, but we need you to nominate them!  Please utilize the below Awards Form for this purpose.  Deadline to submit a nomination is September 1, 2017, so don’t delay!

2017 Conference Scholarship

MCPA Conference Scholarships are available to crime prevention practitioners that are a current MCPA member in good standing and are unable to attend the annual conference due to financial constraints.

Awards are based on financial need and are awarded to cover the full conference registration fee, including one night lodging during the conference at the conference hotel. Scholarships do not fund travel and meal costs; however some meals are provided as part of the conference fee.

Only members that have not received the MCPA Conference Scholarship in the past 3 years are eligible to apply.

MCPA currently has six scholarships available for the annual conference. Five of these scholarships will be awarded only to Greater Minnesota applicants who meet the below eligibility requirements in addition to being outside of the 7 County Metro Area (both Sheriff’s Office and Police Departments). The ability to provide these particular Greater Minnesota scholarships was made possible by a generous grant from Land O’ Lakes to the MCPA specifically for this purpose.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current MCPA member in good standing
  • Currently employed in a crime prevention capacity
  • Has not received a MCPA conference scholarship in the past three years
  • Provide statement of need
  • One application per agency
  • Candidate must attend the entire conference.

Deadline to submit a scholarship application is September 1, 2017!
